Does Salt Water Help Acne? Yes, And Here's How...

Have you ever noticed that your skin looks clearer after a seaside getaway? Maybe you thought it was the sun or just the relaxation from being away. While a little R&R and Vitamin D can help improve the health and clarity of skin, the main reason why your skin looks clearer after a seaside getaway is because swimming in the ocean helps clear up skin.

The minerals in the ocean work naturally with the pH balance of your skin to return your complexion to its purest state. The sodium chloride is a natural cleanser and deep pore exfoliant. It targets bacteria on the surface of skin while drawing out impurities from deep within pores. Gradually, blemishes are brought to the surface and clarified while the appearance of redness is minimized and moisture is balanced.

WHY IT WORKS:

Everyone's complexion is unique but we all have one thing in common - we break out when our skin does not properly exfoliate dead skin cells through its own natural mechanisms.

The cells shed unevenly and combine with natural skin oils to form a plug which clogs the pore. Sebum oil and bacteria get trapped inside and continue to build up which leads to an infection, sometimes inflammation and eventually a blemish.

Sea salt water or saltwater combats this chronic problem. The sodium chloride targets bacteria on the surface of skin while deeply exfoliating pores so existing blemishes can heal more quickly and emerging blemishes are brought to the surface and clarified. Through osmotic actions, the dissolved sea salt draws out impurities and excess oil.

Trace ocean minerals including potassium, magnesium and calcium work to tone, soften and smooth out skin while minimizing the appearance of redness and balancing moisture.

With regular use this cycle repeats and skin is retrained to work more efficiently, completing the work acne prone skin is unable to do so most blemishes are prevented from ever forming.

SALT WATER SOLUTION:

After discovering that swimming in the ocean cleared up my skin, I started driving an hour to the beach every week to bring back buckets full of ocean water to soak in. It wasn't a sustainable solution but it lead to the idea of soaking in dissolved sea salt water. I tried Dead Sea Salt, Epsom Salt, Bali, Mediterranean, Atlantic, Celtic, Grey, but the sea salt that ended up working was a combination of Pacific Ocean and Himalayan Pink Salt.

The purity of the Pacific Ocean salt and its ideal percentage of sodium chloride plus the dense healing minerals of the Himalayan Pink Salt cleared my skin up just like the ocean itself.

CLARIFYING SALT BLEND:

Use as a Soak, a Spray or a Sea Salt Facial Cleanser!

This 100% natural powdered blend of Pacific Ocean and Himalayan Pink Sea Salt naturally combats breakouts without over-drying or irritating skin. While you soak, sodium chloride deeply cleanses and exfoliates clogged pores. Existing blemishes can heal more quickly and emerging breakouts are brought to the surface and clarified. Essential sea minerals including potassium, magnesium and calcium work to tone, soften and smooth out skin while minimizing redness and balancing moisture. With regular use this cycle repeats and skin is returned to it's most natural state.

How To Use:

As a Natural Cleanser and Exfoliant: Slowly add drops of water to a quarter-sized amount of salt until the mixture becomes pasty and you can rub it between your hands. Gently rub onto skin in circular motions for 15 seconds then rinse off completely with cool water. Not intended for use on the most sensitive skin. If redness or irritation occur, discontinue use. Avoid use on fresh cuts, sores and scabs because it's salt, it'll sting!

Face Soaks in Bowl: Dissolve 1 tablespoon salt in every 36 ounces of LUKEWARM water (below 92°F). Soak face for 2 minutes, taking breaths in comfortable intervals. Repeat three times weekly. If redness occurs, decrease amount of sea salt.

Face Soaks in Bath: Dissolve 1 cup salt in LUKEWARM bath water (below 92°F). Soak face for at least 5 minutes taking breaths in comfortable intervals. Repeat three times weekly. If redness occurs, decrease amount of sea salt. Use ear plugs when soaking face to avoid swimmer's ear.

Other Uses: Dip cotton ball in salty water, apply to face as a toner and rinse. Dunk washcloth in salty water, drape over face for 5 minutes and rinse. Dissolve 1/2 tablespoon soak in spray bottle (18 ounces), spray onto face and rinse.

Rinse salt off completely after each treatment.

Skin Tip:: Soak face before bed in order to drain pores of daily product build up and to maximize overnight skin cell repair. For a stronger cleansing and exfoliation treatment, mix a small amount of salt with a touch of water and massage into skin.
