How To Improve Your Moisturizing Routine

First, it was a never-ending pandemic and now, depending on where you live, it's also a never-ending winter. For many of us that means dry, raw hands from endless hand-washing, hand-sanitizing, cold weather and wind.

And it’s probably not just your hands at this point. Maybe fine lines are looking a little more pronounced and your complexion is kinda dehydrated and lackluster. Ugh.

Here are some tips to help maximize the effectiveness of your moisturizing routine in order to improve the health, vitality and strength of your skin and get back a little of that pre-winter glow...without causing breakouts of course!

1) Your Hands: Have you noticed that your dominant hand tends to bear the brunt of the dryness? My right hand is always more cracked and raw at the end of the day. I've learned that it's important to layer moisture with both a balm and a cream, morning and night, in order to prevent extreme cracking. It's the extreme cracking that leads to the vicious dry hand cycle that's so hard to break.

First, rub the Pretty Skin Moisture Balm Stick into dry areas. The worst areas for me are my knuckles and wrist creases. Then massage in a generous amount of the Winter Dream Whipped Mango Butter Cream. Sometimes I even top it all off with a little bit of the Pretty Plump Hyaluronic + Peptide 5 Lotion for an extra shot of skin plumping hydration from the Hyaluronic Acid and anti-aging rejuvenation from the Peptides. Fun Fact: Mango Butter (a key deep moisture ingredient in both the Stick and the Cream) nourishes skin for longer than oils that’s why it’s extra effective on dry skin.

2) Your Arms and Legs: Same routine, but add the Pretty Skin Organic Body Oil. I shy away from using the Body Oil on my hands because it leaves them too greasy, but it's perfect for arms and legs. Order of Operations: Pretty Skin Moisture Balm Stick on the driest areas > Massage in the Winter Dream Whipped Mango Butter Cream > Top it all off with the Pretty Skin Organic Body Oil.

3) Face, Eyes and Décolleté:

First Step: Start off with a non-drying cleanser. The Ocean Saltwater Clear Skin Cleanser nourishes and restores the health and vitality of skin while clearing it. It is non-drying and non-stripping. We pour Organic Rosewater and Aloe into every batch and use gentle actives like Aspen Bark Extract and Glucono Delta Lactone to gently and continuously exfoliate skin without causing irritation or purging. The Ocean leaves behind a clear, smooth and toned layer of skin that's ready to drink up some equally pure moisture.

After cleansing I always apply the Kona Love Bright Eyes Caffeine Moisture Stick first under and around my eyes. I massage it into frown lines too. Then I massage the Pretty Plump Hyaluronic + Peptide 5 Lotion all over my face and décolleté. These days I have been using the Lotion twice in a row and I take a few extra seconds to massage into my face, draining the lymphatic tissue and stimulating circulation as much as possible. We need it right now! Then I apply 14e Aloe Nourish Foundation and set it with a final hydrating spritz of the Pretty Skin Just Roses Facial Spray.

Even after your makeup is all set and done for the day, you can apply the Kona Love Bright Eyes Caffeine Moisture Stick periodically throughout the day to help fill in some of those under eye creases and just feel fancy. Lol. As the hours pass, the stress of the day mounts and your skin starts to look dry, spray on the Pretty Skin Just Roses Facial Spray to boost moisture. It can go right on top of both your moisturizer and makeup. If you're worried about your makeup running, just use a little...it goes a long way.
